Sport Fishing With Dan Hernandez

Written by

This is not your granddad’s old fishing show where all the fishermen and fisherwomen always comment, “Nice fish,” in a southern drawl, “Nahce fiesh, a goodun foh shuar,” regardless of what the thing looks like or how big (or miniscule) it may be. Sport Fishing with Dan Hernandez travels to fresh and saltwater fishing spots in California and Mexico. It is the first fishing program ever to air in Los Angeles on a major TV station. Hernandez offers advice and tips for every level of angling experience and he even shows viewers how to cook their special catch during his cooking segments. He has also authored a cookbook aptly titled, A Fisherman’s Cookbook

Hernandez takes you to some of the most exciting hotspots and best locations. He is the fish sleuth. A Los Angeles native, he began writing and doing field photography for magazines such as: Sport Field, Western Outdoors News, Pacific Fisherman, and Sport Fishing, as well as numerous other outdoor publications. Due to his extensive knowledge of the majority of species caught locally, and/or in the waters of Baja, Hernandez is also one of the most popular and sought after speakers on this subject. He is also the West Coast expert for Cabelas, the largest catalog house in the U.S.

Wishing to expand upon his successful writing and photographic career, Hernandez developed and hosted “Fish-On!” for cable TV. The show focused on California saltwater fishing. After three years, he went on to host and produce his own TV fishing program, Sport Fishing with Dan Hernandez.

Hernandez has been honored by winning the “Spirit Award,” a national award given by Hispanic Business Magazine, for being the first Latino in the nation to own, host and produce a series for network television in English. A really nice guy, he has also been recognized for his selfless work with inner-city kids in the Downtown and East Los Angeles areas.

In addition to his cookbook, Hernandez has also released a series of how-to fishing tapes and other instructional materials and is the author of a how-to fishing book, “Saltwater Fishing Adventures,” which focuses on learning techniques for catching the species chronicled in the book.

Enjoy fish tales from the fish sleuth on CEG TV Network.
